Senior Project: A Family’s Ripple Effect
It all started with a young man named Clark Grigg, who heard me speak at Creation Festival in the state of Washington. I challenged the youth in attendance to team up with Life Promotions to reach their friends for Christ in their schools. Clark took up the challenge and began planning and organizing school assembly programs for his school as his senior project. He also organized a rally where we were able to share the gospel. That was nearly 5 years ago. A year later, people were still involved in bible studies as a result of what Clark did.
If you haven’t watched Clark’s story yet, it’s a must see.

Clark’s younger sister, Holly, attended a different school. Can you guess what she did for her senior project? You got it! So, back to Washington we went, to the town of Quincy, a farming community. Holly set up programs in her high school and an evening rally too. She asked her younger brother, Luke, to get involved and he organized a dance group that performed a powerful dance that dramatized the love and power of the gospel at the rally. We worked with an awesome band called NoonDaySun. The school programs went great, and when night came, the gym was packed for the rally and Holly saw many of her friends come to Christ.
At that rally Holly actually performed a couple of her own songs too. Back then, she was an aspiring artist. Since then God has continued to bless her music ministry and she’s released her second album. Perhaps you’ve heard her songs on the radio under the name, Holly Starr – named after her grandmother. She’s been able to work with one of the most sought-after producers in Christian music, this year’s Dove Award-winning producer Rusty Varenkamp. You can pick up a copy of her latest project “Tapestry” on iTunes, or her website at www.hollystarrmusic.com.
Holly’s music ministry was also highlighted in the latest issue of Interlinc magazine for youth leaders, along with a devotional. Since then, we’ve had Holly at Lifest twice, and the Grigg family has shared Clark’s story from the Grandstand. She’s coming back to Lifest again this year, so be sure to check out her music.
In the words of Billy Mays, “But wait, there’s more!” The youngest Grigg sibling, Luke, is graduating this year from the same school as Holly! This story is like a fairy tale come true for us because Luke also organized events for his senior project. The school was so impressed the last time we came, that this time they opened their middle school in addition to the high school, asking us to focus on an anti-bullying message.
We needed an opening act again, so… Yep. Holly Starr. She and her band performed at the schools and rally last month on March 11th. They rocked it and we had the largest turnout in that community yet. Hundreds responded to the gospel with 102 new believers. Once again, Luke was creative and had a painting contest during the rally that focused on the theme, “Looking for Love.” From the photo showing my handiwork, you’ll be glad to know that I’ll be keeping my day job as a youth speaker.
Ministry doesn’t end when we leave a community. For many, it’s just the beginning of a movement. Dedicated young people and community leaders continue to work together to reach and encourage their friends, and help them grow in a loving relationship with Christ. The ripple effect of this one family and their relationship with Life Promotions is reaching far beyond the little town of Quincy, WA.
Clark just left for YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and is experiencing discipleship training in Hawaii.
Holly Starr is now on tour throughout the US.
Luke is headed to Purdue University and is considering an internship with Life Promotions.
The Grigg family now supports the ministry in prayer and financially, and the kingdom is being advanced.
So, all this to say… Need a senior project? Give us a call.
It’s amazing to see how one family has partnered with Life Promotions through the years to impact their community and countless others across the nation. You can do the same for your community.
